Review: Blues BBQ Carolina Pepper Sauce
Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:49AM Like most things, BBQ sauce preferences vary by region. Sauces are molasses think and sweet in Kansas City, mustard based in South Carolina, tomato & chiles in Texas, while most of North Carolina favors a cider vinegar based sauce. It's really a matter of preference.![]()
Recently, I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of Blues BBQ Carolina Pepper Sauce. This is a classic example of a North Carolina cider vinegar sauce. I happened to have a little left over brisket from Sunday's efforts and I decided that I'd give this sauce a try.
In short, it was AWESOME! I first gave it the "dab on the finger" test. It was thin as I expected. Then I put a generous amount on a slice of brisket. I really enjoyed the tanginess of the cider vinegar and the peppery finish. I then made myself a sandwich and generously applied the Carolina Pepper Sauce. I gotta tell you I don't normally eat BBQ with this kind of sauce, but I really enjoyed this. In fact, I have a little pulled pork defrosting today and I expect to enjoy it with this sauce at lunch later.
I also have a bottle of Blues BBQ Habanero Sauce. I haven't opened it yet, but if it's of similar quality to the Carolina Pepper Sauce then I'll bet it's awesome too. Here's the contact info if you'd like to try some of these sauces yourself.

Thanks Braddog! Glad you like!
I love vinegar based sauces. I tried a new one yesterday and loved it. I'll have to give this one a shot too. I like making my own, but sampling different commercially prepared ones gives one ideas for tweeking their own sauce.
